Whale and Dolphin Watching

San Diego is one of the only places in the United States where you can discover ocean wildlife year-round.

  • From December through April, you can observe part of the amazing 10,000-mile annual migration of the Pacific gray whale from Alaska to Mexico. At 30 to 50 feet in length and weighing up to 40 tons, these whales leave their summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea and make the trek south to the lagoons of Baja to give birth to their calves. It’s possible to see both south and north bound migration all the way through April. Most whale watching tours reported sightings as close as 1/2 mile from our bay!
  • From June to December, Eastern Pacific blue whales can be found from Alaska to Panama.  Off the coast of Southern California, sightings are made seasonally from June to December. Experience the wonder of one of the largest animals to ever live on earth in their natural habitat, it is truly beyond amazing.
  • During summer months, blue whales can be spotted in San Diego’s waters as the coastal waters warm up.
  • Year-round, humpback whales, fin whales and pods of Dolphins are spotted regularly on our sailing adventures. Come join us to explore Mother Nature in all her glory.

Whether you live in San Diego, or you’re here for a visit, don’t miss our Sunset Dolphin and Whale Cruise – truly one of the best things to do in San Diego. Looking for a different time? We also offer a noontime cruise option.
